MOSCOW. Feb 2 (Interfax-AVN) - All systems of the Geo-IK-2 geodetic satellite, put into an off-target orbit after an erratic launch of a Rokot carrier rocket, are operating normally, a source in the rocket-space industry told Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.
"Contact has been established with the satellite. The telemetric data received suggests that the solar panels have deployed according to schedule. The satellite is fully operational," he said.
The Defense Ministry will decide shortly whether the satellite will be used as part of a geodetic mission as planned on in near-earth orbit, the parameters for which differ from the initial ones, the source said.
