Kabardino-Balkaria restores traffic police outposts over terror threat

NALCHIK. Feb 3 (Interfax) - Chief the Interior Ministry's department in the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria Sergei Vasilyev has decided to restore all traffic police outposts back to the roads as the threat of terrorism increases.

"The extremely difficult crime situation in Kabardino-Balkaria and a real terrorist threat resulting from years of systemic flaws call for urgent measures to prevent the further escalation of tension," Vasilyev said in a statement on Thursday.

The Dzhulat and Kaspiy traffic police outposts in the Maiskiy and Tersk districts were fully reopened a week ago.

After the closure of the Maiskiy outpost, the number of stolen cars has tripped, while the temporary closure of the Tersk outpost has cleared the path for arms and drug trafficking and for the free movement of criminals and terrorists between adjoining territories.
