WASHINGTON. Feb 9 (Interfax) - U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs William Burns will be in Russia on February 9 and 10.
The visit will center on the key issues on the bilateral and international agenda, the press service of the U.S Department of State has reported.
Burns is expected to meet with high-placed Russian government executives, and address the business community, representatives of civil society and rights groups.
Burns was U.S. ambassador to Russia from 2005 to 2008 and is the highest-placed career diplomat on the American diplomatic service. He is considered to be the main architect of the Barack Obama administration's policy with regards to Iran. He was the chief American negotiator during the talks between the Sextet on Iran and Iranian officials in Istanbul in January.
