KOROLYOV, Moscow region. Feb 14 (Interfax) - The RadioScaf-B satellite will be manually launched in summer, during a spacewalk of International Space Station (ISS) crewmembers, Deputy Director of the Federal Space Agency Vitaly Davydov told journalists.
It was decided not to launch the satellite during the spacewalk of February 16 because the satellite battery might go flat before April 12, when the 50th anniversary of the first manned space flight is marked, he said.
The satellite will stay aboard the ISS until the next spacewalk planned for July 27.
On April 12 the satellite named Kedr after the call sign of the world's first astronaut Yuri Gagarin, will be turned on at the ISS on April 12 to transmit greetings in many languages and to praise the jubilee.
