LONDON. Feb 15 (Interfax) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has invited the British prime minister to visit Russia, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a press conference in London on Tuesday.
"I am meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron today and will confirm the invitation for him to visit Russia," Lavrov said.
The visit may take place this year.
Lavrov recalled that Medvedev and Cameron have met several times to discuss various issues, including "issues that persist in the relations between the two countries."
"We have reached an agreement that any problems will be discussed constructively and every effort will be made to find mutually acceptable solutions. That was the atmosphere of my meeting with my British counterpart William Hague today," Lavrov said.
Lavrov said Russia is interested in the current stage of Russian-British relations, including the visit by the British prime minister to Russia, "marking the new, constructive quality of our relations, quality of our partnership, we have to make these relations strategically stable," he said.
