MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax) - Informal meetings in Vienna, held on February 14-15, failed to produce an agreement on resuming negotiations on the settlement of the Transdniestria problem in the five plus two format.
"Unfortunately, no breakthrough was achieved. The work of a permanent conference on political issues within the framework of the negotiating process, which, as you know, was suspended by Moldova five years ago, remains blocked," Alexander Lukashevich, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, told a briefing in Moscow on Thursday.
"The next informal meeting will take place at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe's [OSCE] headquarters in Vienna in early April," the diplomat said.
The five plus two talks involve Moldova, Transdniestria, Russia, Ukraine, the OSCE, the U.S. and the European Union.
