GORKI (Moscow region). Feb 22 (Interfax) - In 2012, Russian Army servicemen will regain the social status of citizens receiving decent salaries, President Dmitry Medvedev has said.
Meeting with officers and their wives on Monday, the president reminded them that, starting from next year, the current order on bonus payments for the servicemen would serve as the basis for permanent salary payments.
"After we switch to a new monetary stimulation system, the servicemen will move back to the social category they belonged before the split of the Soviet Union, namely citizens with decent incomes," he said.
The president called for watching the general balance of payments, prices and inflation.
He voiced hope that the new rules were a correct way of solving the issue of salary payments for Army servicemen.
