MOSCOW. Feb 22 (Interfax) - Two members of armed groups have been detained in the Republic of Chechnya in Russia's North Caucasus.
"During search operations in the town of Shali, officers of law enforcement services have detained unemployed local residents, who have been members of M. Gakayev's armed group since July 2010," a source in law enforcement agencies told Interfax on Tuesday.
The arrested men tipped off the police to the whereabouts of four weapons caches, from which a Kalashnikov machine gun, three Kalashnikov assault rifles, three Makarov pistols, 14 mines, 18 grenade launcher rounds, seven grenades, 590 cartridges, two fuses, five kilograms of TNT, two kilograms of hexogen, 12 kilograms of a mixture of ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder, and seven Kenwood radio receivers were confiscated, he said.
