MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - The visit by U.S. President Barack Obama to Moscow has not been canceled, but the exact date has yet to be determined, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told Interfax on Friday.
"For now we have no specific arrangements about the timeframe," he said.
However, the U.S. president's visit to Moscow was a subject of discussion during U.S. Vice President Joe Biden's visit to Moscow, he said.
"They discussed all the issues related to contacts at high and other levels for the upcoming period, including Barack Obama's visit (to Moscow)," the diplomat said.
Nor has there been any agreement about the visit schedule, he said.
The visit has not been canceled, Ryabkov said.
Earlier reports said the U.S. president would be unable to come to Russia in 2011. Sources close to diplomatic circles did not rule out that Washington believed that high-level meetings already occur quite often on international platforms. Besides, it was reported that the visit by the U.S. vice president, which ends on Friday, might be seen as some sort of a "replacement" to Obama's visit.
