MOSCOW. March 22 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin and U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Susan Elliott discussed the recent events in Northern Africa and their possible impact on Central Asia.
"Special significance was attached to analysis of the events in Northern Africa and their influence on the Central Asian countries. Mutual willingness was expressed to promote stable development of the Central Asian states and external players' responsible approach toward stronger interaction with them," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
Karasin and Elliott also exchanged opinions on the situation in Central Asia and Russia's and the U.S.' relations with the Central Asian states, it said.
