MOSCOW. March 29 (Interfax-AVN) - President Dmitry Medvedev has ordered a reshuffling in the Armed Forces.
Medvedev has appointed Rear Admiral Vasily Lyashok as head of the Navy's planning department and deputy chief of the Navy's Mai Headquarters, freeing him from the duties of head of the organizational-planning department and deputy head of the Navy's Main Headquarters.
Col. Alexei Nikitin of the Medical Service has been appointed as chief of the 2nd Department and deputy head of the Defense Ministry's Main Military-Medical Department. Lt. Gen. Igor Turchenyuk has been appointed as deputy commander of the Southern Military District. The post of commander of the 35th army thus vacated has been filled by Maj. Gen. Sergei Solomatin, who was freed from the duties of chief of the headquarters and first deputy commander of the 36th army. This vacancy has been filled by Maj. Gen. Valery Sharagov, who was freed from the duties of deputy commander of the 2nd Army.
The president has dismissed armaments and arms operation chief and deputy commander of the Black Sea Fleet responsible for armaments and arms operation Rear Admiral Viktor Afanasyev; the commander of the 6991st air base (1st category), Maj. Gen. Vladimir Belyayev; the deputy commander for morale of the Northern Fleet, Rear Admiral Anatoly Minakov, and the head of the Navy's Higher Officer Courses, Rear Admiral Yury Rebenok.
