SEVASTOPOL. April 11 (Interfax-AVN) - The Yamal large landing ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet is taking part in exercises of the Black Sea operative naval group, press secretary of the Russian Black Sea Fleet commander Capt 1st Class Vyacheslav Trukhachyov told Interfax-AVN on Monday.
"The Russian ship is in charge of air defense of the international naval group, as well as of illumination and joint maneuvering," he said.
The multi-national forces are practicing the deterrence of an attack of a small-size speedboat and illumination of the operations theater. They will also train search and rescue of a person overboard and replenishment of reserves and will check sailors' knowledge of BlackSeaFor guiding documents. An embargo operation will be the core of the drill. The joint forces will search for suspicious vessels and enforce an inspection in compliance with the law of the sea.
Turkish warships, the Barbaros frigate and the Mizrak missile cutter, are taking part in the exercises together with BlackSeaFor vessels. Turkish aircraft will take part in some episodes of the drill, Trukhachyov said.
