TBILISI. April 11 (Interfax) -Viking 21 exercises of the NATO Partnership for Peace Program are underway at the Vaziani military base near Tbilisi. Twenty-four NATO member and partner countries are engaged in the drill.
This is the first war games Georgia is hosting, representatives of the Georgian Defense Ministry and the exercises command told a press briefing on Monday.
Drill coordinator Maj. Durban Johansson (Sweden) said that the sides were practicing control over the coordinated deterrence of terrorists on a site located 120 kilometers away from the command post with the use of modern communication means.
The partners are coordinating actions of battalion and brigade commands.
The war games will last for ten days.
