Operation against Umarov group members underway in Ingushetia (Part 2)

MOSCOW. April 11 (Interfax) - The police operation underway in the vicinity of Muzhichi in the Sunzha district of Ingushetia aims to trace and eliminate members of the Doku Umarov group, a source in the North Caucasian Federal District law enforcement agency told Interfax.

"Up to six militants were seen near Muzhichi on Monday," he said.

"The current clash continues the operation against the Umarov group, which started on March 28," he noted.

Muzhichi is located in woody highlands, not far from the village of Verkhny Alkun where from 17 to 19 militants, including close associates of Umarov, were killed on March 28.

The law enforcers have officially confirmed the death of Umarov's right-hand, Supyan Abdullayev.

According to unofficial reports, the operation killed Umarov's doctor. A Moscow laboratory, presumably belonging to the Federal Security Service of the Investigations Committee, is doing DNA tests of the remains of the dead militants.
