VOLGOGRAD/MOSCOW. April 26 (Interfax) - Security has been tightened at Volgograd police services, and government and legislative agencies, and also at the city's vital facilities, the Volgograd regional police department told Interfax on Tuesday.
"Security has been bolstered in the city. The command was issued to enhance the protection of vital facilities and buildings where government and legislative agencies, and police services are headquartered," the police department said.
Reports keep arriving that suspicious unattended objects have been found in different parts of the city, police said.
"Reports have been checked over the past hour about a suspicious car and a suspicious bag left in a tram. Fears that they could be filled with explosives have not been confirmed," according to police.
Emergency teams have been dispatched to the regional administration headquarters to check a report that a suspicious pail has been found, covered with garbage, which reportedly contains a bag, the police department said.
A blast went off earlier near the building of the regional traffic police, No one was injured. A metal door and a concrete fence were damaged, and windows were blown out, according to police.
Two plastic bottles, reportedly filled with aluminum powder, with wires sticking out of it, have been discovered at the checkpoint of the Interior Ministry's Law Academy, the police department said.
