ROSTOV-ON-DON. April 28 (Interfax) - Five police officers sustained concussions when an explosive device was detonated outside a beer bar in the village of Sultanyangiyurt in the Republic of Dagestan, a spokesman for the Kizilyurt district's police department told Interfax on Thursday.
"Last night two unknown men wearing ski masks dragged a local resident out of his Zhiguli car in the village of Sultanyangiyurt and stole the car. They pulled up outside a beer bar and planted an explosive device near it. They activated the bomb when an investigative group arrived at the site. Five policemen sustained concussions as a result of the blast," he said.
In a separate development, an improvised explosive device hidden inside a fuel can was found outside a food store in the neighboring village of Khanad at around 6:00 a.m. Moscow time on Thursday, the spokesman said.
The site has already been cordoned off and sappers are working with the bomb.
Improvised explosive devices have also been detonated in Dagestan's capital Makhachkala and the Kizilyurt district in the past 24 hours, a spokesman for the republic's law enforcement services told Interfax.
