Rosoboronexport ready for closer cooperation with Mediterranean states

MOSCOW. May 5 (Interfax-AVN) - Rosoboronexport is offering military products, which meet NATO standards, to Mediterranean partners, Chief Advisor to the Rosoboronexport General Director Anatoly Aksyonov said in a report received by Interfax-AVN on Thursday.

"We realize that a number of regional countries are NATO members. However, life has proven that all of our systems fit the alliance's standards perfectly. Also, we have systems that exceed substantially the systems of our rivals or are even unique," he said.

Rosoboronexport will present Russian defense products at the IDEF 2011 international defense industry fair in Istanbul on May 10-13.

"There are areas for more profound cooperation" with Mediterranean states, Aksyonov said. "That is why IDEF is a good floor for displaying our achievements and advantages," he said.

The report described Rosoboronexport as a leading member of the world arms market. More than 80% of Russian armament and military hardware exports go through Rosoboronexport. The company interacts with more than 70 states on four continents, the Rosoboronexport press office said.
