Medvedev orders to work out security threat response

GORKI. May 11 (Interfax) - All Russian agencies and government departments must work out an algorithm of responding to events abroad that can cause damage to the state or deaths among Russian civilians, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said.

Such an algorithm "must be universal and well-elaborated," he said at the opening of a meeting on security. "Even the killing of terrorists, like the recently killed bin Laden, has to do with the level of security in our country," he said.

There should also be a thorough evaluation of "the degree of protection of our diplomatic missions abroad in the event of a crime committed in or outside our country," Medvedev said.

The degree of protection must be consistent with the level of threats existing abroad, he added.

Certain events abroad can have a direct effect "on our interests," Medvedev said.
