Russia to take part in building landing craft for Turkish Army - Rosoboronexport

ISTANBUL. May 12 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's Rosoboronexport and Turkey's RMK Marine have signed an agreement regulating their relations in the Turkish international tender for an air-cushioned landing craft, Chief Advisor to the Rosoboronexport General Director Anatoly Aksyonov told reporters.

"The request for information was made over a year ago, and we found our place in the future tender. The legal formalities are settled to pave the way to the future joint work with the Turkish side," said the head of the Rosoboronexport delegation to the IDEF 2011 arms show in Istanbul.

"An agreement regulating the joint work was signed after lengthy negotiations with RMK Marine, a leading Turkish shipbuilder, he said.

"We will be a co-builder of the ship for the Turkish Navy," Aksyonov said.

Russia presented a unique prototype air-cushioned landing craft, Murena-E, at the tender. The craft meets Turkey's technical requirements. The Turkish partner is studying the bid. The ship can travel at up to 55 knots, it easily passes land obstacles and carries powerful armaments, Aksyonov said.
