MOSCOW. May 16 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Black Sea Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Vladimir Korolyov may soon be put in charge of Russia's most powerful fleet, the North Fleet, a source in the Navy staff told Interfax-AVN on Monday.
"Chief of the fleet staff Rear Admiral Andrei Volozhinsky has been the acting commander of the North Fleet since February. Vice Admiral Korolyov will become the fleet commander soon," he said.
Vice Admiral Korolyov was a senior assistant and commander of a North Fleet nuclear-powered submarine. Later he was a deputy commander, the chief of the anti-sub service, a division commander and a submarine squadron commander in the North Fleet.
He became a deputy commander of the North Fleet in November 2007 and the chief of the fleet staff in August 2009.
