MOSCOW. May 16 (Interfax) - Moscow calls for the immediate end of bloodshed in Libya and the beginning of the settlement process, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a Monday press briefing in Moscow.
"We want the soonest end of bloodshed in Libya, the return to a political process in the interest of the people of Libya, Libya's neighbors and the entire international community, and negotiations on a new Libya and necessary reforms," he said.
Russia supported the initiatives of the African Union, which proposed a settlement roadmap, Lavrov said.
He stressed once again that UN Security Council resolutions 1970 and 1973 concerning Libya must be observed strictly and "the practice of exceeding their mandate must stop."
