ST. PETERSBURG. May 18 (Interfax) - The St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly has voted for recalling Sergei Mironov from the Federation Council as its representative in the upper chamber of the Russian parliament.
The decision was supported by 43 St. Petersburg lawmakers, and five voted against it.
Mironov himself had chosen not to wait until the end of the voting procedure and left the Mariinsky Palace, where the Legislative Assembly is located.
He said later that, after being recalled from the Federation Council, he would join the current State Duma, which he said he was entitled to do.
