BRUSSELS. May 19 (Interfax) - The reason for instability in relations between Russia and NATO lies in the fact that they lack a common cause, "common capital," Russian ambassador to NATO Dmitry Rogozin has said.
He said that the joint European missile defense system could become such a project. He quoted President Dmitry Medvedev as saying at a Moscow press conference earlier on Wednesday that there is hope of working out a model of cooperation with the United States on missile defense.
"If a balance of interests is observed, then a unique project will appear in experience that will become a common cause. If we have common threats, the response should also be common," Rogozin said at the presentation of his book at the NATO headquarters.
