MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax) - Mikhail Bogdanov may become the new deputy foreign minister in charge of relations with the Middle East instead of Alexander Saltanov who resigned from the position, a high-ranking diplomatic source has told Interfax.
Russian diplomacy will continue maintaining contacts with Hamas and Hezbollah movements, the diplomat t said.
"There will be no fundamental changes [in relations with Hamas and Hezbollah]. And Bogdanov will carry on the job himself," the source added.
Bogdanov, presently the Russian ambassador to Cairo, used to be the ambassador to Israel and head of the Foreign Ministry Middle East and North Africa department.
