Ukraine starts delivery of modernized Antonov An-32 jets to India

KYIV. May 19 (Interfax-AVN) - Ukraine will dispatch the first batch of light transport aircraft Antonov An-32 modernized for the Indian Air Force before the end of May, a source at the UkrSpetsExport company told Interfax.

UkrSpetsExport's subsidiary, SpetsTechnoExport, and Indian representatives signed the delivery and acceptance certificate for five An-32 jets on Wednesday, he said.

The first batch of the modernized planes will fly to India on May 27. Ukraine will also deliver equipment for aircraft repair plants.

Another two shipments of five An-32 will be done before the yearend.

The contract worth of about $400 million was signed in July 2009 between the Indian Defense Ministry and SpetsTechnoExport to repair and modernize 103 An-32 planes.
