ST. PETERSBURG. May 19 (Interfax-AVN) - A Swiss company, Thommen, starts the licensed production of the TSL-1600 helicopter searchlight engineered by Transas, Transas Aviation Marketing Director Igor Strokin told reporters.
"Preparations for serial production of our searchlight are in progress in Switzerland. It is certified in conformity with European norms as a part of the equipment of EC135 Eurocopter," he said.
A U.S. company has been the world's leading producer of searchlights until recently, he said. "Our searchlight is not inferior to or even better than the U.S. product by certain parameters. Its price and technological solutions are much better," Strokin said.
The searchlight price varies from $35,000 to $50,000 depending on the model, he said.
