MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax-AVN) - The Federal Space Agency has announced a tender for conceptual design of the Vostochny spaceport infrastructure.
The conceptual design must be ready in March 2012, and the contract will cost 500 million rubles.
Bidders must present layouts of the prospective technical areas for prelaunch preparations of rockets, satellites and boosters. The workshops must have a useful life of 20 years.
The spaceport must have infrastructure for railroad, air and motor transportation of rockets without stopping the oncoming railroad traffic.
The technical areas must be protected from lightening and remain operational in the case of a rocket explosion, and personnel must be protected from the effects of a possible explosion.
There is no requirement of withstanding an impact of conventional and mass destruction (chemical, biological and nuclear) weaponry.
The technical areas must ensure the launch of no less than 20 rockets and a similar number of satellites per year.
