MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax-AVN) - The Yekaterinburg Urals Civil Aviation Plant will assemble the first Forpost system with three Searcher drones before the yearend with the Israeli IAI license, plant representative Andrei Novikov told Interfax-AVN at the Comprehensive Security 2011 show in Moscow.
"The plant is enlarging the area for assembling, testing and launching drones. The first system with three drones and a control post will be assembled in the end of this year," he said.
The plant will test the system when it is ready, Novikov said.
The drone has a tail hook and takes off from solid runways. It carries two video cameras and infrared equipment for night flights.
"It is a task of Russia not to copy foreign machines but to stuff them with domestic products," he said.
