Only 60% of 2011 state defense order placed - deputy premier

MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax-AVN) - Enterprises of the Russian defense industry and the Defense Ministry have signed slightly more than 50% of contracts as part of this year's state defense order, Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov told journalists in Moscow.

"Only 60% of contracts, which were supposed to be signed before April 15, have been placed," Ivanov said.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has demanded that the placement of the entire state defense order for 2011 be completed by the end of May, he said.
