Moscow missile defense system could be nucleus of European missile shield - Space Forces

MOSCOW. May 20 (Interfax) - Russian military know-how matches similar technologies in the United States and Europe and can be used while developing a European missile shield, Chief of the Russian Space Forces' Operational Control Staff Igor Morozov said.

"The general conclusion is that the missile defense system of the Russian aerospace defense forces, currently under development, has outpaced third countries' missile technologies and matches similar weapons samples in the United States and Europe. Technically, it can be used in creating an integrated European missile defense system," Morozov said at a conference in Moscow on Friday.

"The Moscow missile defense system could be used as a nucleus for creating a reliable missile defense system to shield Europe from missile strikes," he said on the sectored approach to European missile defense.
