Russia's concern growing over coalition steps in Libya - Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. May 20 (Interfax) - Moscow's concern is growing over coalition forces' actions in Libya that go beyond the mandate of the UN Security Council's Resolution 1973.

"It is with increasing concern that Moscow treats the ongoing events and the continuing bloodshed in Libya, as well as the coalition's actions that go beyond the framework of the UN Security Council's Resolutions 1970 and 1973," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said at a press briefing on Friday.

"We think that it is important to intensify political and diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the crisis with the help of the peacekeeping potential of the UN and the African Union as much as possible," he said.
