U.S. reliable partner for Turkmenistan - Berdimuhamedow

ASHGABAT. May 20 (Interfax) - Turkmen-U.S. cooperation in education and the oil and gas sector has positive prospects, Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow said.

"We attach great importance to expanding relations with the U.S., which is one of Turkmenistan's reliable and promising partners," Berdimuhamedow said in an address to participants in a U.S. exhibition and a Turkmen-U.S. business forum in Ashgabat.

"Our open door policy offers an excellent opportunity to further step up the Turkmen-American partnership and to broaden fruitful cooperation between representatives of business circles," he said.

"Measures to expand Turkmenistan's traditional dialogue with the U.S. are not restricted to simply investing capital in some individual sector. Rather, their aim is to promote the harmonious development of all economic sectors," the Turkmen president said.

Great importance has been attached to bilateral contacts in education, transportation, the communications sector, the oil and gas industry, agriculture, food production and tourism, he said.

"We think that these spheres hold the biggest promise," Berdimuhamedow said.
