MOSCOW. May 23 (Interfax) - Members of the mediator quartet - the United Nations, Russia, the U.S. and EU - support the vision of the ways to achieve peace between Palestinians and Israelis expressed by U.S. President Barack Obama, a Friday statement of the mediators says.
Members of the quartet agree that the progress on the solution of the problems of borders and security may become the foundation for achieving a final settlement of the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis through serious substantive talks and mutual understanding on all key issues, the statement says.
Members of the quartet also spoke of the need for an immediate settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
The quartet again insistently calls on the sides to overcome the existing obstacles and to resume direct bilateral talks without any delays or preliminary conditions, the statement says. The quartet confirms its loyalty to declarations and principles adopted earlier, the statement says.
