Plainclothes police attack protesters in Tbilisi - Burjanadze

TBILISI. May 23 (Interfax) - The situation at the protest action outside of the Georgian Public TV office in Tbilisi badly worsened on Saturday. Several dozen people were fighting using plastic pipes, an Interfax correspondent reported from the scene.

Nino Burjanadze, one of the organizers of the protest, told journalists that plainclothes police had attacked protesters carrying pipes similar to those used by the opposition activists.

Several opposition activists were injured in the fight.

There were about 1,000 protesters outside of the Public TV office, the Interfax correspondent reported..
