MAKHACHKALA. May 23 (Interfax) - Head of the section for minors at the Khasavyurt police was murdered Sunday morning, Interfax was told at the press service of the Dagestani Interior Ministry.
A ministry spokesman said that the officer was attacked at about 8:15 a.m. near his home.
"Maj. Magomed Abdulkhamidov was about to take a seat in his car when attackers opened automatic fire at him. He succeeded in opening reply fire but died of wounds. The attackers fled. A search for them was launched," the spokesman said.
At 12:25 p.m. on Saturday an unidentified attacker made two shots from a pistol at a traffic policeman on duty in Toturbiyev Street, Khasavyurt, mortally wounding him and fled, a source in law enforcement told Interfax. Two cartridge case of 9 mm caliber were discovered at the scene. A criminal case was launched.
