ST. PETERSBURG. May 23 (Interfax-AVN) - The Moscow Tekhnika Design Bureau has created a prototype of the Tornado engineering vehicle, which will help the Interior Ministry Forces suppress riots.
The vehicle will penetrate through entanglements, lift and carry cargo, remove blocks and do other operations the Interior Ministry Forces need to stop riots in cities, says an article in the new issue of the Voprosy Oboronnoy Tekhniki science and technology magazine published in St. Petersburg.
The cross-country vehicle has a truss, an armored cabin and a water gun with a pump and a driver. It also carries water and teargas tanks, a remotely controlled communications monitor, a bulldozer blade and a hydraulic-gear crane with outriggers. The vehicle can fire teargas grenades. It carries fire fighting equipment, an extendable ladder and additional electric equipment (lights, loudspeakers, radio and video monitoring systems), the magazine said.
"The crew life sustenance system prevents the penetration of teargas and other pollutants used in the dispersal of riots inside the cabin. The vehicle can put out fire with a hydraulic unit or a manually controlled hose. It carries aerosol or powder fire extinguishing generators," the article said.
