Rosoboronexport to offer info on more than 50 types of weapons at Belarus arms show

MINSK. May 23 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian state arms trader Rosoboronexport will present over 50 weapon systems for land, air and air defense forces at the MILEX-2011 arms show in Minsk, Belarus, on May 24 to 27.

"Given tight competition on the international arms market, our countries must cooperate more intensively in the weapons sector," Rosoboronexport Security Department Head, leader of the state arms trader's delegation at the arms show Valery Varlamov said.

"Everyone knows that some of the Russian export items contain Belarusian-made high-technology components. The two countries are implementing joint programs to upgrade Soviet-era and Russian weapon systems on duty in many countries. There are lots of areas where cooperation could be broadened further. Therefore MILEX is a chance to demonstrate advanced Russian weaponry and to map out steps to strengthen ties and coordinate joint work on foreign markets," he said.

Rosoboronexport will provide information about weapons for land forces, including the Tigr multirole motor armored vehicle, the BMP-3M infantry fighting vehicle, the BTR-80A armored personnel carrier, the T-90s tank, the Smerch heavy multiple rocket launcher, the Vena 120-millimeter self-propelled automated artillery system, the Nona-S and Nona SVK self-propelled artillery systems, the Msta-S self-propelled howitzer, the Khrizantema-S self-propelled antitank system, the BMPT tank support infantry fighting armored vehicle, the Kitolov-2 guided projectile system, the Krasnopol KM-1 and Gran guided weapon systems, the Metis M1 and Kornet-E guided missile systems, Kalashnikov assault rifles of the AK-100 series and other weapons.

Air forces will be offered Mil Mi-28NE, and Kamov Ka-52 and Ka-50 helicopter gunships, the Mi-171Sh military-transport helicopter, the Mi-35M transport-combat helicopter, the Ka-60 multirole helicopter, the Ansat training helicopter, the Yakovlev Yak-130 training aircraft, the Beriev Be-200 amphibious aircraft, the Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets and other aircraft.

Rosoboronexport will offer information about the Buk-M22E surface-to-air missile system, the S-300PMU2 and Tor-M2E surface-to-air missile systems, the Pantisr-S1 surface-to-air missile system, the Igla-type missile systems and Fara-1, Protivnik-GE and JKredo-1 radars.
