ASTANA. May 24 (Interfax) - Investigators looking into an explosion that occurred outside a jail of the Kazakh National Security Committee's department early on Tuesday morning do not think that it was a terrorist attack, a source in the republic's law enforcement services told Interfax.
"The car exploded at 3:40 a.m. [local time] on May 24. A man sitting inside it was killed. Investigators are looking into a terror act- related theory, but they do not view it as the main theory," he said.
The car carried explosives, which blew up, he said.
The car had a license plate issued in the Pavlodar region and arrived in Astana last night, the source said.
