TSKHINVALI. May 24 (Interfax) - Georgian authorities have closed checkpoints on the border with South Ossetia.
Road closures are in place near the South Ossetian villages of Sinagur and Karzman, Pavel Kumaritov, head of South Ossetia's Dzhava district administration, told Interfax on Monday.
"Three days ago, the Georgian Interior Ministry's Kutaisi-based special force unit was suddenly introduced to an area adjacent to South Ossetia, causing a road closure. All those traveling to Georgia were forced to go back," Kumaritov said.
The Mosabruni checkpoint at the border between the Leningorsk district and Georgia has been closed by the Georgian authorities for three days, Alan Dzhussoyev, head of the Leningorsk district administration, told Interfax.
This is due to mass disturbances in Georgia, he said.
