Militant leader killed in Ingushetia

NAZRAN. May 24 (Interfax) - An Ingush warlord, Vakha Mochukiyev, has been killed in a security operation in Nazran.

Using a tip-off, a law enforcement unit stopped a car presumably driven by a militant, suspected of involvement in terror attacks, Ingushetia's security department told Interfax.

"As the car was being blocked, the suspect fired shots at police with a pistol with a silencer. The bandit was killed. He was tentatively identified as Vakha Mochukiyev, born in 1979," a security department spokesman said.

According to information available to the security department, Mochukiyev was an Ingush militant leader, involved in committing a series of terror attacks in Ingushetia.
