BEIJING. May 24 (Interfax) - China is weighing a plan to send experts to Iran to inspect nuclear facilities, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jiang Yu said at a press briefing on Tuesday.
"We are earnestly weighing a plan to send experts at the Iranian side's invitation to inspect Iranian nuclear facilities," she said.
The proposal to launch Chinese inspections was made by Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi who is currently on a visit in China.
Jiang also said that China advocates for the earliest possible start of a new round of Iran's talks within the sextet, noting that the Iranian foreign minister had held talks with his Chinese counterpart earlier on Tuesday.
The sides discussed bilateral relations, Iran's nuclear problem and international issues of mutual interest, she said.
The Iranian foreign minister is expected to meet with the Chinese leader later on Tuesday, the Chinese diplomat said.
