Moscow cannibal charged with murder - source

MOSCOW. May 25 (Interfax) - Oleg Shadrin, ho is suspected of cannibalism, has been charged with murder, a source in the law enforcement agencies told Interfax on Wednesday.

Body parts of a man who was later identified as a 47-yearold homeless man were found in the Moskva river in the area of Moscow's Novozavodskaya Ulitsa in early May, the source said.

"Oleg Shadrin, 40, was detained on suspicion of committing this crime in his apartment building in Ulitsa Oleko Dundicha 7 on May 16," the source said.

Shadrin has been charged with murder and taken into police custody, the source said.

The investigators have determined that the suspect had alcohol with the victim in his apartment on May 1-2 and hit him on the head with a metal bar several times. After the man died, Shadrin dismembered his body, packed the remains in bags and a backpack, and threw his body parts in different places.

"As the suspect was detained, the victim's liver was found in his freezer. The investigators have found that the suspect cooked pieces of that liver and ate it," the source told Interfax.
