Medvedev signs decree on fund for protection of Russian expat rights abroad

GORKY, Moscow region. May 26 (Interfax) - A special fund operating in Russia will protect the rights of Russian expats starting next year, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said.

"I signed a special decree establishing a fund to support and protect the rights of our compatriots abroad. It is set up by the Foreign Ministry together with [the Federal Agency for CIS Affairs, Expatriates and International Humanitarian Cooperation] Rossotrudnichestvo," Medvedev said at a meeting with permanent members of the Russian Security Council.

"I hope that the fund will begin constant, systemic and, I would like to hope, efficient work to protect the interests of our compatriots early next year," he said.
