STAVROPOL. May 26 (Interfax) - Drug trafficking routes, including from Afghanistan, that run through the North Caucasus heat up the situation in the region, State Anti-Narcotic Committee Chairman, Federal Drug Control Agency (FSKN) Director Victor Ivanov said.
"The tensions are fanned up by the traffic of Afghan heroin and hashish, the production of which has multiplied, through the regions of our country," Ivanov said at a visiting session of the State Anti-Narcotic Committee in Stavropol on Wednesday.
Drug trafficking makes the regions of the North Caucasian and Southern federal districts rather complicated, he noted.
