Tajikistan to host CIS anti-terrorist drills in 2011

MOSCOW. May 26 (Interfax-AVN) - An anti-terrorist exercise of border troops of CIS member states will take place in Tajikistan in 2011, CIS Council of Border Troops Commanders Col. Gen. Alexander Manilov said.

"The Council of Border Troops Commanders plans to hold a special tactical exercise in Tajikistan to drill interaction on preventing terrorist acts at border and customs facilities," Manilov said at a conference at the Russian General Staff Academy in Moscow on Wednesday.

The Council of Border Troops Commanders worked out documents on creating a coordination center in Kyrgyzstan that will assist border services to expose and forecast security threats, as well as to prepare proposals on settling crises on the CIS borders, he said.

The Council of Border Troops Commanders' group for monitoring and analyzing the situation in the Central Asian region will be active in Kyrgyzstan until the final decision on the coordination center is made, he added.
