MOSCOW. May 26 (Interfax) - Russian specialists who have visited the Far East on an expedition say there is no radiation hazard to Russia coming from the Japanese Fukushima nuclear power plant, Rosatom head Sergei Kiriyenko told a Thursday press conference.
"We can affirm the absence of a security threat," he said.
The first phase of a maritime expedition of the Russian Geographic Society started on April 22 to study the influence of the Fukushima NPP accident on the radiation level along the coastline of the Russian Far East. Specialists from the Federal Consumer Rights and Human Well Being Service, Rosatom and the Federal Hydro-Meteorological Service took part in the monitorings.
