DEAUVILLE. May 27 (Interfax) - The Syrian leadership is planning reforms and is capable to handle the situation in the country, Moscow says.
"We believe the Syrian leadership is planning reforms," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told journalists on Friday.
"The situation in this country cannot be measured by a one-size assessment whereby the authorities must change the course unreservedly," he said.
There is no need to put the Syrian issue before the UNSC because it "poses neither international, nor national security threat," he said.
The Syrian leadership will certainly sort out the situation and embark on the path of reforms, Ryabkov said.
