Sale of Mistral helicopter carriers to Russia not linked to Russia's stance on Libya - Sarkozy

DEAUVILLE. May 27 (Interfax) - The sale of Mistral helicopter carriers to Russia is in no way aimed at making Russia change its stance on Libya, French President Nicolas Sarkozy said.

"We are not talking about any exchange here," Sarkozy told a press conference in Deauville on Friday. The press conference aired on Rossiya 24 television.

"There are no secrets, hidden agreements. It is in no way connected to the Libyan dossier," Sarkozy said.

Sarkozy also called the assumptions that Russia may use Mistral helicopters against its neighbors "false analysis."

"Who is Russia trying to conquer?" he said.
