Finding asylum abroad no problem for Gaddafi - Russian envoy

DAUVILLE, France. May 27 (Interfax) - Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi would be able to find asylum in some Arab country if he wanted to, the Russian president's envoy for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Margelov has argued.

"If Gaddafi wanted to go, Eastern policies know quite a few scenarios that he could take advantage of and find somewhere to spend a quiet old age," Margelov told Interfax.

Margelov said Qatar had offered to shelter Gaddafi and that, as a Muslim, he could expect to find a safe haven in Saudi Arabia.
