ASHGABAT. May 30 (Interfax) - Afghan President Hamid Karzai is beginning a formal visit to Turkmenistan on Saturday, media outlets said in Ashgabat.
"The forthcoming high-level talks in Ashgabat are meant to become another important step on the path of development of the traditional bilateral cooperation based on the reliable foundation of the unbreakable friendly, fraternal and neighborly relations that are getting stronger each year," Turkmen media outlets said on Saturday.
A number of bilateral documents are due to be signed during Karzai's visit.
Turkmenistan is looking to strengthen cooperation with all countries, primarily, its neighbors, the statement said. In particular, Ashgabat provides assistance in Afghanistan's socio-economic and cultural revival by supplying electricity and liquefied gas at a favorable price, by building social infrastructure and helping train staff.
